Motorola and Intel working on Mobile WiMax In India
Two of the industries leading tech giants Intel and Motorola members of the WiMax forum have joined hands together to work on the mobile version of the Wimax technologies in India. These two companies have been working together on the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 802.16e standard. This is to provide specifications for both fixed and wireless broadband applications Motorola, Intel and India WiMax.

With their new collaborative plans, Intel and Motorola plans to collaborate and share testing results and design information to ensure that the new products they are developing are interoperable. However, Motorola made it clear that this collaboration does not stop it from using chips and processors from Intel's competitors.

The 802.11e standard is expected to be finished by the end of October 2005 and it is important that a market is created for products in this category to get the consumers interested. As a result, a collaboration between these two market giants is somewhat important for the technology to get popular. Both Intel and Motorola are also working with the mobile technology provider Sprint Nextel, which is testing the Wimax technology in its labs.

Also announced is that Motorola has stopped working on the 802.16d Wimax specification, which was ratified last year by the IEEE and only supports fixed point-to-point links.
